After six years of tinkering with split Air-Soles, Nike designers retur to the full-length airbag concept that first debuted in 1997. They also drastically reduce the midsole foam, replacing it with a "cage" to contain the airbag. Suddenly, a foamless midsole no longer seems impossible-it seems inevitable.
